Do you dream of turning your passion for wellness into something more?

Do you dream of turning your passion for wellness into something more?

That was the question I wanted a solution for when I found myself at a crossroad in my corporate marketing job. I was looking for a way to turn my passion for nutrition, cooking and holistic health into a career that would make an impact and let’s be honest, turn into sustainable income so that I could leave the corporate world.

What is a Health Coach?

A health coach is a supportive mentor and wellness professional that helps clients feel their best through food, lifestyle and behavioral changes. Health coaches understand that relationships, exercise, career and spirituality are just as important to your health as the food on your plate. This allows health coaches to take a holistic perspective when working with clients and design individualized wellness programs to meet clients’ needs.

What does a Health Coach do?

A health coach works alongside their client to help them reach specific goals, such as weight loss, improve their health, or find greater energy through a customized plan that is tailored to the client’s specific needs and lifestyle. Much of the conversations will be centered around food, but other important topics include exercise, stress management, mindset and creating healthy habits.

Many health coaches choose to work alongside doctors and nurses in private practice offices, or in gyms, spas or wellness centers. You can choose to meet with clients individually or in a group coaching setting, either in-person or online. Beyond working with clients, health coaches have opened restaurants, created products, online programs and meal plans, hosted wellness workshops or retreats and so much more.

The path towards entrepreneurship has been no small feat and there’s been blood (yes, that happens in the kitchen!), sweat and tears along the way. I never envisioned myself as a business owner, but there’s no place I’d rather be and the journey has been incredibly rewarding and transformative.

How do I know if health coaching is right for me?

For me, it was a gut feeling. The next right step that would lay the foundation for a career that I loved and was passionate about. The path towards entrepreneurship has been no small feat and there’s been blood (yes, that happens in the kitchen!), sweat and tears along the way. I never envisioned myself as a business owner, but there’s no place I’d rather be and the journey has been incredibly rewarding and transformative.

If you’re passionate about health, wellness and helping others, here are some ways to know if health coaching is right for you:

  • You want to make a living doing the work that you love (that will maybe free you up from corporate America!)
  • You are looking for career flexibility (design a career around the working hours and environment that works for you)
  • You embrace learning and new ways to do things
  • You want to earn a generous income and you’re willing to put in the hard work to get there
  • You crave flexibility in career opportunities
  • You want to be a part of a global movement towards better health

A Day in the Life of a Health Coach

As a health coach and entrepreneur, each day looks different than the last. Some of the highlights of my job include:

Hosting monthly cooking class  and private lessons within my Winter Park, FL community.

woman holding mug and using laptop on couch

Creating an online video course for corporate clients, giving participants a holistic view of their health.

Co-hosting several wellness retreats, including Soulmade and We+Be Wellness.

Facilitating wellness workshops, one of the most memorable being at Southwest Airlines talking about eating for energy through a balanced plate.

Taking clients on a healthy tour of the grocery store to educate them on how to shop in a healthier way.

Creating online products, such as my 21-day meal plan or virtual bootcamps.

But the most rewarding part of my job is being a part of that “aha” moment. It’s that moment in time when clients’ begin to see and feel positive change, implement healthier habits into their lifestyle in a way that makes sense and begin to view the food on their plate in a different way. There’s no greater feeling than being a part of the transformative journey that changes a person’s life!
